Founded in 1998, the Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) offers undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate education and participates in research projects and networks. It has an international faculty and student environment and studies take place exclusively in English.
The Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) will serve as a legal platform for research, training and dissemination of knowledge on international humanitarian law and humanitarian assistance. RGSL will commit itself to provide research expertise in areas of international humanitarian law, human rights and international criminal law. In addition to its resident faculty, RGSL also maintains close cooperation with a number of externally based distinguished experts in international humanitarian law, human rights and international criminal law, several of whom are formally affiliated with the School.
RGSL is a partner institution to the Latvian Red Cross and has participated in establishing the Latvian International Humanitarian Law Expert Network, which aims at providing expertise and training on current issues in the area of international humanitarian law. Together with the Latvian Red Cross, the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, RGSL is a member of the Steering Group of this network and serves as a platform for hosting annual international humanitarian law conferences.
