One of the famous authors in this field is Geert Hofstede, a Dutch scientist who worked out in a well-known framework how to describe the culture of a country and how in this way it becomes possible to describe differences in culture.  In his research, started in the 20th century in the sixties he build up an impressive database of all kind of countries all over the world and later on he updated this data base several times, later on with a team of researchers and consultancy activities.  On the worldwide web it is easy to find this (see below) but have a look your self at to find out what is written about him and his team and what he and his team has published.
